Went to mustang mach-e at first launch. Total disaster! Ford wasn't prepared, car was almost 100% software which was very buggy, constant OTA updates. Windshield wasn't s3aled properly, glass roof installed wrong, doors sounded cheap. They had the iccu issues but Ford denied it until nhtsa.gov forced a recall.

I sold after 18 months now have 2023 ioniq 5 which is amazing! Better built in every way.

Ioniq 5 is nice. I’d like to see a 2/3 size version!

You‘re probably right about the winter tires but rear wheel drive alone shouldn’t be an issue as the weight of the battery between the axles should be an ample substitute for the weights one used to put in the trunk of rear-wheel drive cars to ensure traction (much like the Beetle which had notoriously good traction thanks to its rear engine) and ESP takes care of the other quirks.

In general you are probably right and you’d think that would be the case for the i3, but YouTube videos that tested it in winter weather showed real traction problems without winter tires.

I didn‘t want to say that it would perform well without winter tires, just that - other than with conventional front engine - RWD vehicles, the rear wheel drive itself shouldn‘t be an issue.

Yes, I completely agree with you.

Irmo, SC: I've owned 3 for teaching beginner driver's ed: A white 2020 which was totaled (other driver's fault), a blue 2021, and to compliment it, a black 2021. All three are Limited (leather, and the navigation which is a great tool for ending lessons at the students' house.). The only issues: The white car, the horn stopped working. It was totaled while waiting for parts to arrive. The blue and black: The "add coolant" indicator came up. This has nothing to do with low coolant, but rather a factory known issue in which the dealer will siphon out the old coolant (which could crystalize in the battery) and replaced with a different coolant. Warranty covered, no cost.

I have owned one since 2017 with 80k miles on it, going strong. I love this car and it sounds like you're going to as well. Sadly Hyundai discontinued it too soon IMHO. It is still a very efficient EV and very practical. My wife has a 2019 Kona Electric. We love their EVs and can't wait to see the next generation

My first was a chevy volt, excellent car very solid, zero troubles. It was a 2017 that I kept for 4 years.
